Health Care Survey

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

"My brother Dale died three years ago because he didn't have health care insurance," wrote Kathleen from Illinois in her response to the AFL-CIO Health Care for America Survey. "He was turned away twice at the emergency room, after complaining of severe stomach pains. An autopsy revealed he died of diverticulitis, a very treatable illness if detected with a simple test such as an MRI or CAT scan." More than 5,500 people have already taken part in the survey, which is collecting responses to be presented to elected officials throughout the country. The survey is part of the AFL-CIO's "In America, No One Should Go Without Health Care" campaign to win progressive reform and give millions of union members the information and tools to become active players and voters.
