"At the River I Stand" Kicks Off New Labor Filmfest Series
Tuesday, January 22, 2008The DC Labor FilmFest is kicking off a new monthly series of movies about work and workers with a free noontime screening this Friday of "At The River I Stand" at the AFL-CIO in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The film will be introduced by Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) President and AFSCME Secretary-Treasurer Bill Lucy, who worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the historic 1968 Memphis sanitation workers strike documented in the film.
