Biz Journal Features Williams

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

Metro Council President Jos Williams talked about top local labor issues in last Friday's Washington Business Journal. Headlined "Big Labor's local guy," Williams discussed school reform -- "Opponents of the unions want to blame workers for all the ills of our schools" -- DC construction jobs -- "the city has not invested in compelling employers to hire D.C. residents at the apprenticeship levels at the front end" -- union membership trends - "Government has allowed employers to literally hold employees hostage and have not allowed workers their right to really determine their own destiny in the workplace" -- and the writer's strike, telling the Journal, "Writers are workers."
