Media Matters

Creating media for social change is the focus of the upcoming Making Your Media Matter conference. The annual gathering, set for February 7-8, is sponsored by American University’s Center for Social Media, which helps organize the DC Labor FilmFest. “This is a great opportunity for area labor leaders and activists to meet established and aspiring filmmakers, non-profit communications leaders, funders and students looking to learn and share cutting-edge practices,” says conference organizer Ann Williams. The conference features panel discussions on the latest tools and trends in creating and distributing social issue media, demos of cutting edge practices and more. The Center is offering union members and allies a special discount on the $100 registration fee: $50 for the day-and-a-half conference. Click here to register and write “union” on the registration form.
