Strikes (And Spares) Benefit Emergency Fund

Tuesday, January 8, 2008

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Dozens of unions will roll out strikes on Sunday, January 27. Bowling strikes, that is. The annual Community Services Agency's (CSA) "Bowling for Gold" Tournament raises funds for CSA's Emergency Assistance Fund. "Lanes are still available but they are going fast, especially for the 1P timeslot," says CSA Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy. Unions, including the IUOE Local 99 "Steamers," the Printcraft Local 27 "Old Timers Plus a Dog," the IBEW "Lightening Balls," the ASASP "5 the Hard Way" and others have already registered for the annual event. "This event is fun whether you're a seasoned kingpin or first-time gutterballer," McKirchy says. For sign-up forms, contact McKirchy, kmckirch@dclaborarchives.org; 202 974-8221.
