Kids Demand Justice for Security Guards

Tuesday, December 4, 2007

Demanding a fair contract and appreciation for their work, security officers, at Lafayette Centre in Northwest DC, and their children delivered cards and a box of pictures and notes from children last night to the offices of Cassidy and Pinkard Colliers – who manage Lafayette Centre. “I came here to let management know that we deserve to get the same treatment as everyone else,” security officer Charla Fletcher (VOICE AT WORK: SECURITY GUARD CHARLA FLETCHER 11/19 UC ) told UNION CITY! at the event. “We are human and we want to have the same things they have for themselves and their kids,” added Fletcher. “Workers are still waiting to meet with management, as promised” about theses issues, said SEIU 32BJ Organizer Frank Thorton. SEIU 32BJ represents the Lafayette Centre officers and thousands of other officers in DC who are fighting for wage and benefit increases and better working conditions. Charla Fletcher and officers will also participate in a lunchtime meet and greet tomorrow at 12:30P. - report/photo by Andy Richards
