Noon Demo Targets Bush, Board & Bosses

Thursday, November 15, 2007

Rain or shine, hundreds of activists will march on the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) headquarters today while thousands of workers do the same at Board offices in more than 20 cities across the country. Activists have mobilized in nationwide demonstrations in the wake of the recent series of decisions by the Bush-dominated Board making it harder for workers to form unions and easier for employers to bust them. The protestors will call for the Labor Board to be closed for renovation until it is capable of making balanced and reasonable decisions. “The Board, which has become increasingly irrelevant, has now been turned over lock, stock and barrel to the bosses,” says Metro Council President Jos Williams. “We’ll be out there in force today to let lame-duck Bush, the Board and bosses know that we won’t tolerate their desperate attempts to ram through anti-worker rulings before they lose power in next year’s elections.”
