Labor Candidates Win Big in VA, MD

Thursday, November 8, 2007

Months of door-knocking and phone banking by union members paid off Tuesday - voters elected labor-endorsed candidates in Virginia and Maryland. "I am very proud of all the unions and union members that contributed time to this successful election drive," Northern Virginia Central Labor Council President Dan Duncan told UNION CITY. The victories in Virginia give Democrats control of the Virginia State Senate for the first time in a decade, while in Maryland, labor-endorsed candidate Mark Cook won his uncontested race for a seat on the College Park City Council.
