Security Officers Among Those Honored at DC JwJ Awards

Newly-organized DC security officers will be honored Thursday night at the 5th Annual DC Jobs with Justice “I’ll Be There” Awards. The security officers, who won their fight for union recognition, will receive an award along with DC Councilmember Phil Mendelson, Howard University Professor Dr. Walda Katz-Fishman, DC Employment Justice Center Deputy Director Karen Minatelli, and the American University Solidarity Committee. WPFW Radio’s Gloria Minnot will host the event and Metro Council President Jos Williams, Martina Gillis of the Fair Budget Coalition, Marcel Reid of DC ACORN, and representatives of Teamsters Local 922 will present the awards.
