Paula Deen's Broken Promise

Smithfield workers and supporters will demonstrate this Saturday against television celebrity chef Paula Deen -- the public face of unionbuster Smithfield Foods — who has not made good on her promise on Larry King Live three months ago to meet with Smithfield workers on his show. Despite repeated pleas by workers from Smithfield's Tar Heel plant to meet with them, listen to their plight, and help them bring better safety and work conditions to their plant, Deen has ignored their requests. Deen will be giving a cooking demonstration at the Washington Convention Center Saturday.
