MCCAIN & BROWNBACK URGED TO "STOP THE HIPPO-CRISY": Chanting "Hippos against hypocrisy" and "Hippos need a vote," a dozen spirited DC Vote activists demonstrated at the Washington Hilton Friday morning as presidential candidates appeared before Republican 'Values Voters' gathered by the Family Research Council and Focus on the Family. DC Vote called on Senators John McCain and Sam Brownback to "Stop the Hippo-crisy" and end their filibuster of DC voting rights. VOTES FOR VETS: If you are one of the 192,000 area present and former residents of the District of Columbia who has served in the military and you support democracy for DC, DC Vote is looking for you. The voting rights organization is planning a Veterans Advocacy Day at the Senate on November 7. “If you were willing to fight for this country, you ought to have a representative who can vote on issues of war and peace, veterans benefits and all the other rights and responsibilities of citizens,” says DC Vote’s Ann Hoffman.
