County Workers Want Troops Home

Monday, October 15, 2007

The Montgomery County worker’s union – UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO – wants the troops to come home. While honoring the men and women fighting in Iraq, Local 1994’s resolution calling for withdrawal of the U.S. military from Iraq says that “every dollar spent in the Iraq War is a dollar added to the US debt” as well as pointing out that “the government of Iraq, with the support of US and Coalition forces, has continued to enforce anti-union and anti-worker laws AND PRACTICES OF Saddam Hussein.” The Metro Washington Council passed a resolution entitled “Not One More Dollar for Occupation and War in Iraq” on January 22, 2007; if your local passed a similar resolution – or is interested in doing so – drop us a line at cgarlock@dclaborarchives.org
