Labor Filmfest Updates

Thursday, October 4, 2007

The good news: the '07 FilmFest t-shirts and cups are in and they look great! The bad news: director Ken Loach has had to cancel his Opening Night appearance due to unforeseen personal circumstances. "While we're disappointed," said FilmFest Director Chris Garlock, "we wish Ken the very best and look forward to seeing the U.S. premiere of his latest film on Opening Night on October 11." FilmFest cups and other goodies (including WhistleblowerLaws.com whistles) will be distributed to all FilmFest attendees, but the only way to get a much-coveted FilmFest t-shirt is to either volunteer at the FilmFest (email arichard@dclaborarchives.org) or win it at the raffles held at FilmFest screenings. Also, don't miss the free screening of "The Hollywood Librarian" at the AFL-CIO this Friday at noon co-sponsored by the Department for Professional Employees. Click here to order tickets online. NOTE: To get the union discount, select "AFI Member" after clicking "Buy Tickets"; you'll need to show your union card or a FilmFest discount card - available by calling 202-974-8156 - when you pick up your tickets at the AFI box office.
