DC Hotel Workers Ratify Contract

Tuesday, September 11, 2007

An overwhelming majority of hotel workers voted to ratify a new three-year master hotel contract Friday, reports the workers’ union UNITE HERE Local 25. The contract includes a $1.70 wage increases over two years, continued employer-paid healthcare coverage, progress on key demands, such as reducing housekeepers' workloads, and a card-check provision to make it easier for workers at the new Prince George’s County National Harbor complex to join the union. The vote came only days after an agreement was reached between management and the union.
