Hotel Workers Reach Tentative Agreement

Friday, September 7, 2007

DC hotel workers have reached a tentative 3-year agreement, sources tell UNION CITY. The workers won significant pay and benefit increases -- including a 70-cent wage increase for the first year, a $1 increase over the following two years and continued employer-paid healthcare -- as well as making progress on key demands, including reducing housekeepers' workloads. The agreement also includes a provision for card-check at the National Harbor complex in Prince George's County, making it easier for hotel workers there to join the union. A ratification vote by the members of UNITE HERE Local 25 will be held today. (includes reporting by the Washington Times)
