Iraqi Union Leaders Call for an End to the Occupation; labor photojournalist David Bacon talks to Faleh Abood Umara, general secretary of the Iraqi Federation of Oil Unions, and Hashmeya Muhsin Hussein, president of the Electrical Workers Union of Iraq, in the July 6 American Prospect online report...The Metro Washington Council joined the DC Employment Justice Center and other supporters Monday afternoon, testifying in favor of the Paid Sick & Safe Days Bill currently under consideration by the DC City Council. Most of those testifying supported the bill, which will not be acted on until the Council returns from summer recess.
