Senate Committee to Consider DC Voting Rights

Monday, May 14, 2007

A US Senate committee is holding a hearing on the DC House Voting Rights Act Tuesday morning. “After 200 years of inaction, the U.S. Senate is moving quickly to consider DC voting rights,” says local activist Ann Hoffman. The DC Voting Rights Act was introduced this month by Utah Republican Senator Orrin Hatch and Independent Senator Joe Lieberman; Tuesday’s hearing before the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is at 10A in Room 342, Dirksen Senate Office Building (Union Station Metro on the Red Line). “Spend an hour Tuesday morning and let Senators know you want your rights,” says Hoffman.
