Maryland Gets Living Wage

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley signed the living wage into law last Tuesday, setting minimum wages for employees of government contractors at $11.30 an hour in the Baltimore-Washington area and $8.50 an hour in the rest of the state. Since 1994, more than 140 communities - including the District of Columbia, which is still fighting for official statehood -- have enacted living wage laws. Click here for the full report.
