Labor On The Move: New Staffers at ATU 689

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)ATU Local 689 has just added two new
staffers. Katie
Traber (left) is
the new Assistant to the
President and David
Stephen (right) is
the union’s new
Communications Coordinator. Traber
hails from Bridgeport,Connecticut, while
Stephen is a native of Detroit, Michigan, and a
recent graduate from the
University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. His
professional experience includes
three years as an organizer with AFT Georgia,
National Director of Public
Relations for the National Black Law Students
Association (2012-2013) and two
years as a law clerk and fellow with UAW
International. Traber comes from a
labor household, with her parents organizing
with UNITE HERE! and AFT. Her
background includes over a decade of campaign
experience and two years working
for a lobbying firm in Connecticut representing
more than 30 non-profits. She
recently managed two campaigns of national
significance for the CEA that
successfully defeated privatization efforts in
her hometown.
