Help 'Kickstart' Walmart Workers' Documentary

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Two local
filmmakers are
working to bring Walmart workers’ battle for
justice to a wider audience.
Michael Blain and Kiley Kraskouskas’ film
“Can’t Take It No More!” will tell
the stories of four workers across Walmart’s
global empire who are standing up,
mobilizing their co-workers and communities,
and striving to build a better
future for themselves and their families —
all in the face of unrelenting
employer opposition and intimidation. The
DC-area filmmaking team has launched a Kickstarter
campaign to help cover production
costs for the independent documentary; nearly
$14,000 has been pledged so far
toward their goal of $50,000, with just 22 days
to go. “The funds raised
will go toward production expenses required to
follow our four main characters
as they each stand up for respect and better
working conditions,” say Blain and
Kraskouskas. “We will travel to Bangladesh,
Arkansas, California, Florida, around
the D.C. area, and more to capture, primarily
through verite-style filmmaking,
the challenges and joys of standing up and
fighting back.”
