WPFW to Broadcast Special on "Salt of the Earth"

The
classic labor film “Salt of the
Earth” will be the focus of a
special hour-long program Monday on WPFW Radio
(89.3 FM) from 11a to 12 noon on
April 28. “Salt of the Earth” is
celebrating it’s 60th anniversary this year
and screens May 5 –
7:30p at AFI in Silver Spring -- as part of the
14th annual DC Labor FilmFest.
Professor Gerald Horne, a labor
historian who has written extensively about the
film industry, including a book
"Class Struggle in Hollywood: 1930-1950" will
be joined on-air by DC
Labor FilmFest Director Chris Garlock and host
Joni Eisenberg to discuss the
film, the DC Labor FilmFest and the first
annual DC LaborFest, a month-long
celebration of labor arts that kicks off on May
1 with a wreath-laying in honor of labor
icon Mother Jones.
