(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Three demonstrations
this Thursday, April 24 headline a full day of local labor actions that also
includes a noontime discussion on copyright and an evening town hall on Fast
Track. First up is the Postal Workers Protest at Staples at 11a at 19th & L,
followed by Unite Here 23’s Stand with Seasons Culinary Workers at 12 noon at the NEA on 16th Street. Then at 12:30 the NWU
hosts Copyright in the Digital Age: Creators in a landscape of Google
Books and Orphan Works, and at 5:30p the AFL-CIO, International Labor
Rights Forum and United Students Against Sweatshops hit the streets in Columbia
Heights for a Global Day of Action for Bangladesh Factory Collapse
Victims.
Wrap up the day with the Fast Track Town Hall at 6:30p at the University of
Maryland, College Park, sponsored by Communications Workers of America, Sierra
Club, Maryland United for Peace and Justice, Divest Montgomery County, Popular
Resistance.org, Flush the TPP, and Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch.
