The
Community Services Agency’s Building Futures
program
landed another grant last week when the
Community Foundation for the National
Capital Region announced grant awards to 58
nonprofit organizations for the
first round of grant-making from the City Fund.
CSA’s Building Futures program
was awarded $70,000 by the $15 million City
Fund, a District-funded effort to
support effective nonprofits that provide
critical programs and services across
the city. “Our Building Futures program is
well-respected and has been turning
out ready-to-work graduates for seven years,
with 80% landing apprenticeships
and jobs in the construction industry and with
the utilities,” said CSA
Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy.
“Our graduates turn their lives
around learning the trades and becoming
economically self-sufficient. We
are gratified to be among the 58 agencies
funded – out of more than 300
agencies applying -- and look forward to
providing more DC residents with paths
out of poverty.” CSA also recently was
awarded general operating support
funding from the DC Sharing Fund, another
managed program of the Community
Foundation, National Capital
Region.
