Support Urged for MontCo Trash Hauler Health Care

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Many of the sanitation workers who collect residential trash in Montgomery County do not have health insurance because they do not earn enough to afford it, reports the Mid-Atlantic Laborers. More than 100 county sanitation workers went on strike last year over this issue but “Despite their courage, the vast majority of these workers still lack health care coverage.” The Laborers are urging Montgomery County residents to support Bill 14-14, which would require county contractors to provide affordable health insurance for their employees.
