Labor On The Move: Mark Coles Tapped to Lead New Capital Region Building and Construction Trades Organization(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Mark Coles has been named Executive Director of CHOICE, the new building and construction trades organization for the national capital region. Coles (right) formerly served as the Business/Legislative Representative for the Washington DC Building and Construction Trades Council (WBCTC), which merged with the Baltimore Building Trades Council to form the new organization covering the whole capital area. A native Washingtonian, Coles graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and served in the United States Marine Corp before entering Iron Workers Local 5's apprenticeship program, and then working as an iron worker for the next 15 years. Coles served as Local 5’s Business Agent/Organizer from 2004-2007 and then became Business/Legislative Representative for the WBCTC. “Mark has been a proven leader and we are looking forward to what's in store for the National Capital Region under his leadership,” the WBCTC said in a post on its Facebook page.
