Solidarity Center Report: Bangladesh Union Organizers Attacked
Friday, February 28, 2014
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
A
Bangladesh garment worker leader and four union
organizers were badly injured
in recent days when about two dozen people
beat, kicked and threw them to the
ground as they were speaking to workers.
According to several witnesses,
factory managers carried out the attack with
others, some of whom worked for
the factory and were potentially paid to carry
out the act—not an uncommon
practice in the country. Read more at the Solidarity
Center.
