In Memoriam: IBEW 1900's Edward Healey

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Edward Healey, an Underground Cable Splicer Mechanic -- and IBEW Local 1900 member -- was en route to a job last Friday, February 14, with a co-worker when they stopped to help a motorist stranded in the snow, reports Local 1900 president Jim Griffin. "Ed became ill and was taken by ambulance to George Washington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead." Healey, 60, worked out of Pepco's Benning Road NE facility. He was a 37 year employee with Pepco. "We will truly miss Ed at Local 1900," said Griffin. "Ed had a spirit of helping those in need and took seriously his mission of service to the public in his job. It is bittersweet testimony to Ed's character that his last act was helping a stranger."
