NOVA Labor GOTV Effort for Tuesday Election Goes Down to the Wire
Monday, January 20, 2014(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Union members representing 17 international unions swarmed Virginia's 33rd state senate district last Saturday urging labor households to vote in tomorrow's special election. Labor- endorsed candidate Jennifer Wexton (center) thanked the volunteers, reminding them that just nine votes were the difference in a separate special election held in Norfolk/Eastern Shore two weeks ago. Knocking on doors with the volunteers were Iron Workers president Walter Wise and Virginia AFL-CIO President Doris Crouse-Mays (left). The 33rd includes parts of Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. Currently the Virginia Senate stands at 20 Republicans and 19 Democrats. NoVA Labor's phonebanks today start at 10a. photo courtesy Dan Duncan
