(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Efforts to raise
Maryland's minimum wage will be front and center during the 2014 legislative
session in Annapolis, which begins at noon
today.
"Raising the minimum wage will
establish a higher floor and help us in bargaining," said Maryland State & DC AFL-CIO president Fred
Mason, Jr. after the state fed’s legislative conference on Monday, urging
turnout at next Monday’s rally to
raise the minimum wage in Maryland. "Raising the minimum wage will give a boost
to Maryland's economy, by increasing the buying power for thousands,"
Mason added.
