DC Council Passes Minimum Wage & Paid Sick Day Bills

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)In a major win for local labor and community activists, the DC City Council yesterday passed bills increasing the minimum wage and  extending Paid Sick Days to restaurant employees. “Thank you everyone for all your hard work,” said Metro Washington Council Assistant Political/Legislative Coordinator Alya Solomon. “We couldn't have done it without out you!” Mayor Gray is expected to sign the bill. In related news, Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker signed the PG County Minimum Wage Bill, completing the area trifecta of minimum wage increases.
