Area Supermarket Workers to Rally for Fair Contract at O St Market Giant Grand Opening

As contract negotiations continue, Giant and Safeway workers and their supporters will rally at 5:30p Thursday at the grand opening of the new O Street Market Giant. The workers voted overwhelmingly last week to authorize a strike if the companies continue to refuse to negotiate a fair contract as they and their union, UFCW Local 400, “fight for affordable health care and good, living wage jobs in our communities.” The current contract has been extended through December 20. photo: October 30 leafleting action; photo by Chris Garlock
