Working America Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Working America, the community affiliate of the AFL-CIO, is celebrating its first 10 years tomorrow night with an ambitious look toward the next five years. The launch of “50 in 5”—the dynamic drive to bring Working America to 50 states – and the District -- in five years—has “taken off like a rocket,” says WA. “Working America is building new partnerships from Montana to Texas to New Jersey, engaging members like never before and building for the long haul.” Working America’s 10th anniversary celebration will be held next Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. “It's going to be a great party,” WA’s Kim Fellner tells Union City. “There'll be a raft of US Senators and cool food, including corndogs, cotton candy, bbq and jumbalaya.” This just in: newly elected AFL-CIO Executive Vice President Tefere Gebre will be attending as well.
