The Big Weekend: NoVA Saturday Canvass Continues; Free Tix for Green Festival;(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

NoVA Saturday Canvass Continues: With just 47 days until elections in Virginia for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and House of Delegates, “We need your help now to elect the labor-endorsed candidates for these positions” says NoVA President Dan Duncan. The NoVA Saturday canvass continues tomorrow, starting at 9a.

Free Tix for Green Festival: Want free tickets for this weekend’s Green Festival? Help out at DC Jobs with Justice’s table there and they’ll give you free tickets to the nation’s largest environmental consumer event, featuring leaders and speakers in the social justice and environmental community, hundreds of eco-friendly businesses, and workshops designed to empower and educate on living an eco-friendly life. JWJ is tabling there – and at the H Street Festival -- to get the word out about the District Coalition for Better Transit campaign. “Music To Build A Better World" Concert Saturday
: Joe Uehlein’s U-Liners and Emma's Revolution rock out Saturday night at the Takoma Park Civic Auditorium, starting at 7:30p. “There will be labor music, and music from the broad progressive movement -- in keeping with the themes at the AFL-CIO convention,” says Uehlein.

Paid Sick Days/Raise Maryland Campaigns:
Jews United for Justice (JUFJ) is canvassing this Sunday in support of the Earned Sick and Safe Leave Act of 2013, which was just introduced this week: 4:45p at the Drum Circle in Meridian Hill Park. Maryland JUFJ leaders are also kicking off their Raise Maryland campaign for a higher minimum wage this Sunday, 4p in the sukkah at Congregation Ohr Kodesh (map).
