Labor Calendar Highlights: A Full Weekend

The 35th annual Great Labor Arts Exchange starts today
out at the Maritime Institute Conference Center and runs through Sunday; the
gathering of union and community activists focuses on using songs, art, poetry,
theater, skits, posters, cartoons, and film to strengthen the labor movement.
On Saturday, the USAS International Day of Action to End
Deathtraps comes
to the Gap in DC at 1p; activists in cities across the US, Canada, and the UK
will call on the Gap and Walmart to put an end to deathtrap factories in their
supply chains by signing the binding Accord on Fire and Building Safety in
Bangladesh. And on Sunday, the DC Coalition of Labor Union Women hosts the Gloria T. Johnson Awards Luncheon, honoring the legacies
and memories of Gloria T. Johnson, President Emeritus and Joyce D. Miller,
President Emeritus.
