Building Futures Grads Demonstrate Appreciation(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The June Building Futures graduates – who are the usual focus of awards and certificates -- turned the tables on the program’s instructors and staff when they bestowed “Certificates of Appreciation” on each of their instructors and gave a “Thank You” award to the CSA program staff. “We were tremendously touched – but not at all surprised -- by their thoughtfulness,” said CSA Client Services Coordinator Sylvia Casaro Dietert. “Building Futures graduates clearly understand that nothing can be taken for granted” said Metro Council president Jos Williams (left), who emceed last Friday’s graduation of 15 students of the 6-week pre-apprenticeship training program for construction jobs and apprenticeships that Williams called “good American jobs that help families make a living.” Agreed Angela Silver (center in photo), “These good American jobs are now accessible to us, [and] it is on us to compete for those jobs, get hired and build a career.” Silver and Rashida Dinkins received awards for scoring 100% on the Blue Print Reading final exam, while Dinkins got a 100% attendance award as well. - photo by Sylvia Casaro Dietert
