Labor College Campus Set to Sell(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The National Labor College (NLC) announced last week that they will sell their Maryland campus to a partnership of Reid Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church and the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County. Citing the “changing needs of its students” and increased demand for online education, the NLC board announced it would be selling the 46-acre campus last year (Labor College to Sell Campus, Continue Online UC 4/10/2012). NLC faculty, administration, and staff – about 50 of whom are full-time employees – will move to a new location in downtown Silver Spring this fall. The college will continue to use union facilities for their Bonnie Ladin Union Skills courses and has started offering workshops in DC on popular labor college topics like public speaking and conflict resolution. - photo courtesy NLC
