Eric Bunn Elected NVP at AFGE(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Eric Bunn Sr., was elected National Vice President (NVP) of the 14th District of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) last Saturday. Bunn (right), President of AFGE 2725, is the first DC Local President to be elected NVP in the Federation. Bunn has been a unionist for more than 22 years.  Before his election, he was President of AFGE Local 2725, which represents almost 1,000 members across six agencies in the District of Columbia, including the D.C Department of Housing and Community Development, D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs, D.C. Department of Health, D.C. Department of the Environment, and Office of the State Superintendent of the Department of Education. Bunn was also President of AFGE Council 211, which represents 4,500 D.C. local members. Bunn will serve the interim term of the 14th District NVP seat which was vacated by Dwight Bowman, who passed away in January. At last night's Metro Council meeting, Bunn was appointed to complete Dwight Bowman's Executive Board term (Bowman passed away in late January). Noting that Bunn has previously served on the board, President Williams welcomed him back, saying that "Eric has been a sterling leader of his local and we look forward to his leadership in the 14th District as well as at the Council." - photo by Bill Burke/Page One
