Director at DC Jobs with Justice, replacing former ED Nikki Daruwala, who
recently resigned. Lewis, who has directed and organized at the Restaurant
Opportunities Center of Washington, D.C. (ROC-DC) for the past three and a half
years, has been an active member of JwJ, serving on the Steering Committee and
the Board, as well as participating in many DC JwJ events. “Nikki brings
experience in strategic, direct, creative organizing through her work at ROC-DC,
from launching the national Dignity at Darden workplace justice campaign,
through her work with the Paid Sick Days for All and Wage Theft
Coalition,” says JwJ. Lewis begins her new position today.
Perry New DC Vote ED: DC Vote also has a new
incoming executive director, Kimberly Perry (left). A DC resident who is
well known for her work as Founding Director of D.C. Hunger Solutions, “Kim
will bring leadership and creativity to DC Vote’s mission and a deep sense of
commitment to ending injustice in our nation’s capital,” said DC Vote’s
board of directors. “Her campaign models have been recognized internationally
not only for getting every sector involved, but intentionally engaging young
people and individuals most disenfranchised to lead,” said DC Vote. Currently
leading a domestic children's health initiative at the William J. Clinton
Foundation, Perry will assume her new position with DC Vote on April 10.
Moch Steps Down from LHF: Darryl Moch
(right) has stepped down as Executive Director of the Labor Heritage
Foundation. “Due to declining financial support and a need to restructure the
organization to manage available resources the board will take over management
of the organization,” Moch said in a March 7 email. “We join with our LHF
family around the country to thank Darryl for his years of service and wish him
the best in all of his future endeavors,” said Board Chair Elise Bryant. Moch
had been at LHF since May 2008.
