Union Shops Score High in PG County United Way Campaigns

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Seven of the top ten United Way workplace campaigns in Prince George's County in 2011-12 were union employers, including one national union. “That means that union members helped make these winning campaigns, supporting lots of non-profit charitable agencies, including CSA, in our region,” says Community Services Agency Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy. “Just another great example of CSA’s motto: ‘labor cares, labor shares!’” The unionized companies are United Parcel Service, Constellation Energy, Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, Giant Food/ Stop & Shop, Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning, Prince George's County Government and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL/CIO.
