In Memoriam: Stan Gordon Dies; Service Tomorrow

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Stan Gordon (right), died yesterday morning. A member of the National Air
Traffic Controllers Association, Gordon was an Executive Director of AFSCME
Council 26 in the 1970's. The longtime union leader and activist was the 2010
Evening with Labor Thomas M. Bradley Community Services Award winner. An
original member of the Board of Trustees of CSA since its founding in 1991,
Gordon was "a stalwart and consistent supporter of the Agency and all of its
programs for twenty years,” says CSA Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy.
“He provided valuable professional support as the new agency was getting off
the ground in 1991, actively volunteered over the years on fundraising and
community events, and helped connect the Agency into programs of the Labor
Participation Office of the American Red Cross, including its disaster
operations," added Metro Council President Jos Williams. Gordon had served in
recent years as the president of the National Capital Area Union Retirees.
Services will be on Tuesday at 11a at Temple Shalom, 8401 Grubb Road, Silver
Spring, MD. After internment family and friends are welcome at Gordon's home,
2027 Lyttonsville Road, Silver Spring.
