Thursday, January 10, 2013
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)It’s an unseasonably warm January thus far, but there’s plenty of online
Streetheat action:
“Taxation Without Representation” Plates on
Obama’s Limo: DC Vote has launched a petition urging President Obama
to put “Taxation Without Representation” license plates on his limo. “They
need 25,000 signatures by January 18 to force the White House to respond to the
petition,” reports Ann Hoffman (NWU). “If each subscriber to Union City
signed the petition, DC Vote would have more than enough signatures. Click
here and follow the instructions on how to sign the
petition.
Fix the Senate Now: “We have a real chance to
make real change in the Senate on the filibuster issue,” reports CWA District 2’s Jimmy Tarlau, a member of the
Council’s Executive Board. “Congress has stopped legislating effectively,
with Senators using ridiculous dodge tactics to block real progress. We have a
chance to restore the filibuster to its original purpose, but we need help to do
it.” Click
here now to urge your Senator to “Fix the Senate Now.”
