Wednesday, December 19, 2012

CSA and AFT Give Back(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Staffers at the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) who sponsor a book club at the national union, signed on with the Community Services Agency to “adopt a family” for the holidays. The family -- from UNITE HERE Local 25, which has been experiencing seasonal unemployment -- received the items earlier this week. “Adopting a family for the holidays is a great way to show solidarity” says CSA Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy, “but there are other ways, too.” Individuals and organizations can still make year-end donations to CSA to support their wide range of work, from job training to emergency assistance for union members in need. Donations, which are 100% tax-deductible, should be dated before 12/31/2012 and mailed in (888 16th Street NW, Suite 520).
