Thursday, November 29, 2012
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)“I want to thank the IBEW and its generous staff for helping us work
efficiently and productively to alleviate some of the problems facing residents
of our area; poverty, health issues, poor education outcomes, lack of good
jobs,” United Way of the National Capital Area President and CEO Bill Hanbury
(center, in photo at left) said yesterday at the IBEW. “You are part of
the solution and we are extremely grateful.” IBEW employees last year gave
$55,000 in contributions to United Way through the employee campaign, making
them the biggest givers in the United Way Labor Division. Community Services
Agency Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy also spoke at the IBEW United Way
employee campaign event, saying “I count on many other United Way agencies to
help people in need who call us. Whether you support CSA or another United Way
agency, it’s all good, and our community benefits.” - photo: Carolyn
