Hotel Workers Urge Boycott of UPO Event at Marriott
Monday, November 19, 2012(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Unite Here Local 25 is asking that the Metro Washington Council and its affiliates not participate in the January 12 Uniting People with Opportunities Martin Luther King Day breakfast “due to UPO's continued use of non-union facilities” at the J.W. Marriott Hotel. “We’re proud to stand in solidarity with Local 25 in this matter,” said Metro Council President Jos Williams. “We urge UPO to instead consider patronizing some of our fine area union hotels where UNITE HERE members are employed.”
