DOE O&M Staff Join IUOE 99

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Operations and maintenance staff at the United States Department of Energy in downtown Washington, DC voted overwhelmingly in favor of joining International Union of Operating Engineers Local 99 during a late-night election September 14.  The operations staff, employed by US Facilities, voted in the union by a 20-2 margin. “We’re always energized when we see future members of Local 99 take a stand and demand improvements in their workplace,” said Local 99 Business Manager Michael Murphy. “We expect a strong contract soon and welcome the addition of almost 25 new skilled tradesmen to Local 99.” IUOE Local 99 represents stationary engineers and skilled maintenance workers throughout Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
