Low Scores, High Fundraising at CSA Golf Tourney(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)More than 100 area union golfers went for low scores while they raised funds during a perfect sunny and crisp fall day yesterday at the Community Services Agency's 17th annual golf tournament at the union Enterprise Golf Course in Mitchellville, MD. "Thanks to all our golfers, vendors and sponsoring locals and organizations for helping raise much-needed funds for CSA's Emergency Assistance Fund" said Alex Thompson, CSA Golf Committee Chair (and a member of the CSA Board of Trustees). The Doyle Printing foursome -- Tom and Dennis Doyle, Dave Taylor and Craig Vann (photo) -- won the team prize, while Bob Pohland (United Healthcare) won Longest Drive and Ron Fleishman (United Healthcare) won Closest to the Pin. UFCW 1994's Doug Menapace won the $350 50-50 raffle and promptly donated $200 back to CSA's Emergency Assistance Fund."It's generosity like this that keeps us going and helps so many local labor families year-round," said CSA Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy. Team photos and a complete list of prize-winners will be posted online later this week. - photo by Chris Garlock
