IBEW 1900 Talks Continue at Pepco(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Pepco workers who jumped into action to restore power for area residents after Saturday’s storm continue to face tough negotiations. A significant cut in meal allowances is “just one example of the many ‘take away’ proposals by Pepco, IBEW 1900 negotiators report. Local 1900’s contract at Pepco expires on September 16 and the local expects Pepco to make its initial economic proposal this week. “When storms like last weekend’s leave metro area folks in the dark, many hard-working union members - from electrical workers to firefighters to nurses - are on hand to take care of the city” says Metro Council President Jos Williams. “I’m grateful for their dedicated work in times of need.” Local 1900’s negotiating committee has vowed not to "rubber stamp" anything, and says that they’re still facing nine major issues at the bargaining table, where talks continue this Wednesday. - photo of Pepco employees repairing downed lines in Bethesda, MD after Saturday’s storm courtesy of PepcoConnect
