Verizon Workers Leaflet Radiohead Concert
Tuesday, June 5, 2012
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Radiohead fans loved the corporate piggy. At the English rock band’s concert
Sunday night at the Verizon Center, dozens of labor and community activists –
including one dressed in a bright pink pig suit and another masquerading as
Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam – turned out to leaflet concert-goers about the
nearly year-long struggle by CWA and IBEW members to win a contract with the
telephone giant. “Fans were very open to us,” said CWA 2336 president Brenda
Savoy, who fired up the crowd at a picnic earlier Sunday afternoon. “They
wanted to know what they could do to help.” For more on how you can help CWA
members get a good contract, contact Lillian at DC Jobs with Justice at Lillian@dcjwj.org or 202-543-1542. - photo by Lillian Walker-Shelton
