In Memoriam: Building Trades Department President Mark Ayers

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Mark Ayers, president of the Building and Construction Trades Department (BCTD) and an AFL-CIO vice president, passed away Sunday morning at 63. “I am deeply saddened by Mark Ayers’ passing. We join his family in commemorating this extraordinary leader and friend,” said AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. Prior to his election in 2007, Ayers served as the director of the Construction and Maintenance Department of the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers (IBEW).
