Raising Voices for Health Care at the Supreme Court

Raising Voices for Health Care at the Supreme Court(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)“The right wing is making a big test of what kind of society it is we’re going to have” AFSCME’s Paul Booth said as he walked the picket line in front of the Supreme Court Monday morning. “We have to raise our voices [for] what Americans want and need: an affordable healthcare system.” As the Court began three days of hearings on the constitutionality of President Obama’s landmark legislation, hundreds raised their voices in support of the Affordable Care Act, chanting “We love Obamacare” and “ACA is here to stay” and singing “"soon and very soon, we are going to change the world/ healthcare is a human right, we are going to change the world.” The few tea party conservatives to show up were heavily outnumbered by health care supporters, but more are expected Tuesday and Wednesday as the hearings proceed.
